Enjoy theviews of Acapulco's bay and Puerto Marques bay on a coastal highway ride. Pause for a soft drink at a rustic seaside turtle farm before boarding your motorboat to begin exploring the lagoon for the tropical birds which call this sanctuary home. During the return journey to Acapulco, travel up the hills surrounding the bay to visit the Botanical Garden. Walk through the amazing flora admiring the tropical vegetation. The plants are typical of lower deciduous jungle along with a great variety of hardwood trees such as the ''Palo Morado'' that is in danger of extinction. The garden is also home to areas of cacti, palms and fruit trees.
Tres Palos Lagoon
It is located 30 km . southeast of downtown Acapulco, between Puerto Marqués and the International Airport . You can reach the Tres Palos Lagoon local bus that runs along the Costera avenue or taxi taking the road to Pinotepa Nacional.
This gaping hole was used as the backdrop for filming the first Tarzan movies , for its untouched nature. It has numerous species of herons and waterfowl that use the mangroves for nesting. This lake is one of the best places for birding in Acapulco. It is 15 kilometers long and 5.5 kilometers wide and is also home to many species of fish. Barra Vieja is a popular beach that separates the lagoon from the Pacific Ocean where you can find many restaurants serving the famous local dish : Pescado a la Talla and other fresh seafood. You'll also find tours on horseback to explore the surroundings in a very organic way .
